Disability Sport NI are TQCC’s chosen charity for both last year and for 2018/2019, and on Saturday DSNI hosted the Northern Ireland Boccia league finals at the Antrim Forum. Boccia is a precision sport for people with high levels of physical disabilities. It is a Paralympic sport that is played from a seated position and is similar to bowls.
On Saturday all the TQCC rides congregated at the finals so that members could experience Boccia for themselves, and be present for the big announcement that the funds raised last year by TQCC – a total of £3,243 – will support both the team and individual Boccia Leagues in 2019/2020.
DSNI’s Chief Executive, Kevin O’Neill commended the club’s fund raising efforts, saying “It is fantastic to have a league sponsor to help us continue to develop and grow the league.”
These funds will support the best Boccia players in Northern Ireland, so that they may compete and hone their skills to qualify for the Northern Ireland Boccia Team. TQCC are proud to be partnering with Disability Sport NI in this venture, and help make a difference in the lives of those who compete at such high levels in this ever developing sport.
